A 76-minute walking tour through Old City focusing on its vegetarian and vegan history, led by Vance Lehmkuhl. Attendees will see historic spots tied to vegetarian pioneers such as Benjamin Lay, Ben Franklin, the Grimke sisters, Caroline Earle White, Peace Pilgrim, and Alfoncie Austin. This tour will include special emphasis on the role of war and peace in driving and/or altering the US vegetarian movement, along with a Philly connection to ‘War and Peace’ author – and committed vegetarian – Leo Tolstoy.

The tour departs from the steps of the American Vegan Center at 17 N. 2nd Street at 4:00 p.m. on Monday, May 30th.
