American Vegan Center
A 76-minute walking tour through Old City focusing on its vegetarian and vegan history, led by Vance Lehmkuhl, and focusing on the theme of “Independence.” Attendees will see historic spots tied to vegetarian pioneers and hear how free thinkers such as Benjamin Lay, Ben Franklin, the Grimke sisters, Bronson Alcott, Caroline Earle White, Peace Pilgrim, and Alfoncie Austin all helped to build not just the veg movement but the very fabric of American democracy. The tour occurs one day before July 4 because all these people were ahead of their time.
The tour departs from the steps of the American Vegan Center at 17 N. 2nd Street at Noon on Sunday, July 3rd.
