March 20: Today is the Great American MeatOut, and to celebrate we invite you on a special-edition “MeatOut” tour of veg history. A program of Farm Animal Rights Movement (FARM), this special day encourages ordinary Americans to drop the meat. On this tour, we’ll look at how these efforts fit into the history of U.S. vegetarian advocacy, including efforts by the American Vegetarian Society and the American Vegan Society. And we’ll pay special attention to how the first North American Vegetarian Society conference led to the founding of FARM and leading to the launch of MeatOut 37 years ago, leading to… today!
