Wednesday, January 26th: Veg History Walking Tour

$10.00

A 76-minute walking tour through Old City focusing on its vegetarian and vegan history. Attendees will see historic spots (most, unfortunately, lacking historical markers) tied to vegetarian pioneers such as Benjamin Lay, Ben Franklin, the Grimke sisters, Sylvester Graham, Bronson Alcott, Caroline Earle White, Peace Pilgrim, and Alfoncie Austin. Vegetarian advocacy officially launched in the U.S. in 1817 just one block from the American Vegan Center, and the story of that group along with others illustrates Philadelphia’s groundbreaking role in American veg history. The illustrations include a set of a dozen colorful caricatures of veg pioneers drawn by Vance Lehmkuhl (“Best Of Philly” political cartoonist!) for the occasion.

The tour departs from the steps of the American Vegan Center at 17 N. 2nd Street at 1:30 p.m. on Wednesday, January 26th.

This tour is for APT members only, with a price per person of $10.
