Description
A 50-minute custom walking/rolling tour through Old City focusing on its vegetarian and vegan history, led by Vance Lehmkuhl. Attendees will see historic spots tied to vegetarian pioneers such as Benjamin Franklin and the Grimke sisters. Also covered on this tour is the rise of vegan cheesesteaks over the past 23 years. Vegetarian advocacy officially launched in the U.S. in 1817 just one block from the American Vegan Center, and the story of that group along with others illustrates Philadelphia’s groundbreaking role in American veg history.
The tour departs from the American Vegan Center at 17 N. 2nd Street at noon on Wednesday, October 6th.
