Best Vegan Cheesesteak in Philly 2024

Congratulations Boardwalk Vegan!!

On Sunday, October 20 2024, at the Philadelphia Ethical Society, the Best Vegan Cheesesteak in Philly contest was back in a 10th-anniversary edition!

Finalist venues were: Boardwalk Vegan; Sabrina’s Cafe; and Triangle Tavern.

The winner was Boardwalk Vegan! (read blog below)

Four celebrity judges – Gretjen Clausing, James Dupree, Rue Landau, and Seth Tibbott – sampled and ranked the finalist sandwiches, and attendees sampled the finalists along with them (see judges blog below). Special guests included Rachel Klein, the top Philly chef who did “Beat Bobby Flay” on his show, with a vegan cheesesteak, and also, via live hookup, former PA Governor Ed Rendell! 

Residents and/or employees of the Greater Philadelphia area were invited to VOTE in the contest from noon on Friday, October 4th until noon on Wednesday, October 16th.
